Stop Motion Video

In order to grab the attention of a brewer which I would like to visit, I have decided to create a .GIF to send them.

Brewdog are now a leading brewery with a current focus on getting a large share of the market and have just ventured into USA. Their branding has been on point since day one and I would like to know more about their brand strategies.

Developing a series of brewery visits will act as a point of contact for my future career interests as well as adding clarity and qualitative/quantitive information to the writing.

Ideas

This book has helped me visualise a stop motion video by teaching me that each frame needs to have a sentence acting as a reminder and to be as detailed as possible. It acted as a push to try something different.

Story-boarding Essentials is a new book to the library and although aimed towards the film and animation courses, I figured it may help in my ideas to create something animated.

Set up

Having to alter each frame due to the slight camera shift between some pictures has been a complete pain, however I knew that the charm and appeal of this video would come in the hand made, sketchy nature of the process. This will hopefully show Brewdog I am committed and want to speak to them on a serious note rather than wanting free beer.

Having a narration aided the issue of legibility with some of the words and helped highlight the pauses in the scripts.

*UPDATED*

Whilst I managed to complete the major stages of the stop motion, it became clear that adding the sound was not something that I could complete on time. I received a lot of relative information regarding my topic from other breweries from across Europe and so in the last week of December, I shelved the project.

This has not hampered my primary research or had a big effect on my critical understanding of a breweries perspective of branding. I believe however that video production became a weakness that I did not foresee.
