Questionnaire start

A list of possible questions to ask on my questionnaire.

These will have to be divided into questions aimed at both creatives and the companies acting as the clients (the brewers). After writing these questions, it is apparent that because each brewer company is different, there is a need for questions specific to the company itself which cannot be asked of other companies. For example, certain questions of art direction and brand guidelines cannot be aimed towards a heavily branded and established companies because it is already set in stone, whereas a brewer such as Mikkeller are smaller and much more sporadic in their artwork which does not really stick to any artistic rules.

Introduction to the questionnaire
As an agency of creatives your are present in the relationship of client to creative in order to expand profits and make a business grow. It is my hope to understand how both clients and creatives see what impact design has had on the rise of a specific market, The craft Beer industry.

Creatives

When being briefed by a client, is there an underlying demand e.g Make our company sell more, make us cooler, make us stand out?

Brewery company

When you set out for a designer to guide your brand, what do you ask of them, Make our company sell more, make us cooler, make us stand out?

What effect did branding have on your profits, please give details if you wish (these will not be published unless specific permission is given)

Did it:
Raise them immediately

Raise them immediately then steady out
Slowly raise
No change
Fell then grew
Fell then stayed low.

Do you feel well established now directly because of your branding.

Why did you decided you needed to get a set of brand guidelines and an overall identity

Do you feel that having an identity has helped cement your place in the market

What is your opinion in the possible link between designers and the rise of the craft beer market and scene.

Do you feel that it is important to craft beer consumers that breweries have a solid brand identity.

Both creatives and breweries

How have you seen the industry of craft beer change in aesthetics over the past 15 years

Has there been a sudden rise in breweries seeking creative agencies for their input into breweries

What is your opinion on classing the craft beer industry a "niche Market", do you feel it is bigger than a niche market now because of the values placed in aesthetics and graphic design.

Do you see a rise in competition between brewers to have the latest graphic design and packaging technology

Mikeller

What decisions did you make on your brand identity

How much input did you/ do you have when creating a new beer bottle

Does your illustrator ever submit work that you feel does not resonate with your look and feel of the company

What impact did the award have on your company

Did it make you consider new avenues of design and identity

Has the recent expansion into the bar scene make you look at the creative industry more and how have you spoken to interior designers?

Odell

What do you want your bottles to say to a new consumer and separately existing consumers

As a larger company that is expanding rapidly, how important has your identity to your growth from the days of the...(old bottle name) and now with the almost standardised shilling and mercenary bottle graphics.

In relation to the vast array of graphics from many companies, what do you think people new to craft beer see when they are at the bar and they see Odell amongst other brands.

Why did you choose to expand the range of Odell products to clothing and other household items, was it for further exposure, profits, solidifying the brand or all 3.
